Today we have reopened the Digital Devices grant available through the Be Connected program in response to the evolving COVID crisis and ongoing lockdowns.

This special one-off grant allows community organisations in our Be Connected Network to buy additional devices with data to loan out to people aged over 50 years to use in their homes.

The $5,000 grant is available to organisations who are providing digital literacy support through the Be Connected program with an active Building Digital Skills or Capacity Building grant. New organisations not yet part of the program are welcome to contact the Good Things Foundation team on (02) 9051 9292 to discuss their eligibility for this grant.

The decision to reopen this grant, which was first made available in April 2020, is our way of acknowledging the difficult times ahead for many of us across the country. We know that digital access and the confidence and skills to use it has never been more important, and small things like a community organisation providing a helping hand through a loaner device can make a big difference to people’s lives.

Last year, we heard that 75% of our Network had learners without access to devices at home. This is a big challenge in supporting people to continue their digital skills programs, stay connected with their community, and access essential services and information.

Applications for the Digital Devices grant open today and close on 13 August 2021.

If you are a member of our Network and concerned about continuing your digital skills programs under new restrictions, we’re here to support you. If the last 18 months have shown us anything, it is that there’s still a long way to go to bridge the digital divide and your support in this time is more important than ever.
