We’re delighted to have been awarded the contract from DSS (Department for Social Services) as part of the Be Connected program, to establish and support a national network of community organisations who will support older Australians to thrive in a digital world. We’re really excited about using our experience from coordinating and supporting similar networks in the UK, and we’re looking to learn lots from organisations in Australia.
The network will bring together partners across Australia who are supporting older Australians to improve their digital literacy.
If you’re delivering digital and social inclusion activity at a local level, then you can be part of a bigger movement to make change happen through digital for excluded people and communities. You’ll be able to:
- Share your expertise and learn from others in the network, from all across Australia
- Be part of something bigger, attracting new funding and partnership opportunities
- Showcase your skills on a bigger platform.
Partners within the network will have access to:
Promotion via our online map
By joining the network, your organisation will appear on our official map, so people looking for help and support locally will be signposted your way. This will help to raise your profile, and help learners to find you more easily.
A learner management system
Learner data will help you offer extra support to the people who seem to be moving more slowly. More content will be released over the year.
Help to find digital mentors
We will provide a framework of resources and toolkits to help volunteers learn how to be a great digital mentor, as well as to help you find and support them. We’ll collaborate with volunteering organisations and peak bodies to help to recruit and inspire digital mentors, and signpost them to you.
Help to market yourself
You’ll receive a welcome pack to help you brand your organisation as part of the network, as well as to help you reach more people in your local community. As part of the network, you’ll benefit from marketing and PR activities that will increase footfall into your organisation.
Training and resources
You’ll have access to a suite of resources to help you and your staff, covering topics including volunteering, bid writing, how to blend face-to-face with online courses, and how to use social media.
You’ll be invited to a range of conferences and events to help you meet and share with others in the network, both face-to-face and virtually. You’ll also be able to access online forums to chat to others.
We will listen to your feedback and evolve the network offer based on your needs and the needs of the network partners across Australia.
